Privacy Policy
Effective October 31, 2026
PlaySafe Together ("we", "us") is a service that helps parents in the same school community arrange after-school play and study sessions. Accounts are for adults (parents and guardians). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Account information. Your name, email address, and sign-in details (email/password or Google sign-in).
- Verification. The school community you join and how you were verified: by redeeming a valid invite code for it, or by being invited into a verified family (below). Schools do not send us rosters, student records, or any information about your child.
- Families. One invite code founds a family. The founding adult may invite other adults — a spouse or another guardian — by first name, last name, and email address, and confirm they are 18 or over and a parent or guardian of the family's children. If you are invited before you have an account, we receive your name and email address from the family member who invited you, and use them only to send and manage that invitation. Family members share the same kid profiles. A family can have up to four adults, and the founding adult can remove a member; a removed or departing member's family-based verification ends, as described in the app.
- Your profile. Hosting preferences (capacity, days, notes), what your family is looking for, and — if you choose to host at home — your home address, handled under the address rules below.
- Kid profiles you create. Name (first and last), grade band, and interests (favorite color, hero, subject). Optional: a photo you upload, and a private medical note that is visible only to the adults in your family. When you sign a child up for a session, the medical (allergy) note is shared with that session's host so they can keep your child safe.
- Activity. Events you post or join, join requests and approvals, group membership, badges, questions you post on an event's message board (visible to that event's audience), and reports you file. If you host, the phone number on your profile is shared with guests you approve, so they can reach you about the session.
- Technical basics. Device and app information needed to run and secure the service (for example, app version and crash data).
Beta waiting list. If you sign up for the beta on our website, we keep your name, email address, and — if you choose to give it — your child's school, only so we can send your invite. When you enter an email address on the download page, we check it against the approved beta list to show your download; that check is not kept as a separate record. Email privacy@playsafetogether.com any time to be removed.
How we use it
To run the service: showing sessions in your school community, passing join requests to hosts, unlocking addresses for approved attendees, sending notifications, preventing abuse, and enforcing our conduct rules. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use information from school communities for advertising.
How addresses are shared
- Events always show only the neighborhood or street name publicly within your school community.
- An event's exact address is shown only to attendees the host has approved.
- If you add your home address to your profile, verified parents in your school community can see it, as described in the app; private groups can additionally choose whether member addresses are visible by default or only after approval.
Children's privacy
Kid profiles are created and controlled by the adults in a family, each of whom attests they are a parent or guardian of the child. We collect a child's name (first and last), grade band, interests, and — only if the family chooses — a photo, solely so other verified parents in the same school community can recognize and include the child at sessions. Any adult in the family can edit a kid profile at any time in the app; deleting a profile deletes the information, including any photo and the private medical note. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children.
Who else receives information
- Service providers. We use Google Firebase (hosting, database, authentication, and storage) to operate the service, and Resend to send sign-in, invitation, and announcement emails. Providers process information only to provide their services to us.
- Address suggestions. When you type an address in the app and choose from the suggestions, the text you type is sent to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service to find matching addresses. If you pick a suggestion, we store its coordinates with the address so "get directions" links land on the right spot. Coordinates are never shown to other users — people see addresses, not coordinates.
- Safety and legal. We may disclose information if we believe it is necessary to protect a child, prevent harm, enforce our rules, or comply with the law.
- Your school or district receives no personal information about your family from us.
Retention and your choices
We keep information while your account is active. You can edit your profile and kid profiles in the app at any time. To delete your account and its information, contact us and we will delete it, except where retention is required for safety or legal reasons. You may also ask us what information we hold about you.
Security
Access to information is limited by account verification and database rules enforced on our servers. No system is perfectly secure, but we use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the information involved.
For organizations: sponsoring families
PlaySafe Together is built for schools first. Registered organizations such as churches, youth organizations, and nonprofits can also sponsor their families and issue verification codes the same way a school does — how sponsorship works, and what a verification code does and does not mean, is on our schools & organizations page.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will announce it in the app before it takes effect. Questions or requests: privacy@playsafetogether.com.
